WRITTEN MANUSCRIPT INSTRUCTIONS
- The deadline for submission of manuscripts is Friday 15th
June 2007. An electronic version prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc)
must be submitted by email to dairy2007@union.unimelb.edu.au
by this deadline. It is not necessary to submit a hard copy of
your paper.
- The Symposium Organising Committee reserves the right to
exclude papers from the published proceedings that do not meet
the deadline or that do not meet quality standards as judged
by the referees and editors.
- Every manuscript will be peer-reviewed by two referees before
publication. Reviewers will be asked to evaluate and comment
on the scientific merit and correctness of presentation of text,
tables/figures, and references. The senior author, in preparing
the final copy of the paper, will respond in writing to the editors
explaining how the criticisms or comments of the referees have
been addressed in the revised version.
- The published proceedings will include explicit information
on the refereeing process used, so that all papers published
therein can legitimately be claimed as refereed papers by the
authors.
- The following page and table/figure limit applies to the
different types of papers to be published in the proceedings:
- Invited keynote papers (senior authors Colin Holmes,
Eric Kolver, Pat Dillon, Yani Garcia, Julian Hill, Bruce
Thorrold and Mark Paine): no page or table/figure limit
- Invited review papers: 8 pages (including reference
list) in the published proceedings, plus a total of up to
6 Tables or Figures. This equates to approximately 6000 words
excluding Tables and Figures.
- Offered papers: 3 pages (including reference list) in
the published proceedings, plus a total of up to 4 Tables
or Figures. This equates to approximately 2200 words excluding
Tables and Figures.
- If you are unsure which type of paper you are presenting,
please contact the Chair of the Symposium organizing committee,
David Chapman (address below).
- The format used for papers published in the Proceedings
of the New Zealand Society of Animal Production has been adopted
for the 2007 Dairy Science Symposium (with the consent of NZSAP,
which is gratefully acknowledged). The NZSAP ‘Information
for Authors’ can be downloaded below. Please follow the
guidelines therein closely. Note: Several sections in the NZSAP ‘Information
for Authors’ can be ignored because they are supplanted
by the requirements of the Dairy Science Symposium, viz the sections
headed: Submission of Abstract, Notification, Length of paper,
and Contract presentation.
- The formatting conventions described in the NZSAP document
under the following headings DO apply to your manuscript: Font,
Title, Short title, Names, Abstract, Keywords, Line spacing,
Introduction section, Materials and methods section, Results
section, Discussion section, Acknowledgements, Reference section,
Tables, Figures, Figure/photographic format, Statistical analysis
and graphical presentation of data, and Use of scientific mathematical
or statistical symbols. Please follow them to the letter
