ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION FOR GICT 08 ARE NOW CLOSED
Invitation
The Conference Organising Committee is pleased to call for the submission of Abstracts by authors wish to present papers at this important international meeting.
Geographical region
The Conference has five regional focus areas and we welcome papers that deal with any aspect of prevention, treatment or control of snake bite in these regions:
- Africa and the Middle East
- The Americas
- Central Asia
- South-East Asia
- Australasia
- Global Issues
Subject category
Papers which deal with the issue of snake bite at National or Regional level, including matters of:
- clinical management
- epidemiology and burden measurement
- public health policy
- resource allocation or procurement
- antisera
- snake systematics, biology or ecology
- prevention and risk mitigation
- first aid treatment
- public health economics
- post-recovery rehabilitation
are especially welcomed
Presentation types
- Oral Papers - These are brief oral presentations scheduled in concurrent sessions throughout the program
- Posters – Visual presentations of abstract submission
The Organising Committee's decision on acceptance of the abstract will be final.

All abstract submissions are to be submitted online ONLY. Any submissions mailed, faxed or mailed will NOT be considered.
General guidelines, requirements and process
- Abstract submissions will remain open until close of business on Friday 1 September 2008. Abstracts received after the closing date may not be accepted.
- Abstract submissions will only be accepted if lodged via the official Conference website: www.mcmconferences.com/toxin2008
- Once the abstract is uploaded via the website and email confirmation of receipt of abstract will be sent to the corresponding author
- Abstracts must be submitted in English.
- There are limited places available for oral presentations and submission of an abstract does not guarantee acceptance.
- Required content of Abstract:
- Authors name(s) and affiliation(s)
- Email contact address for the corresponding author (taken to be the author submitting the abstract, unless otherwise indicated)
- Title of paper
- Body of Abstract (maximum 350 words), – there is no formal style requirements, but the Abstract must be logical in form and structure;
- Global or regional theme
- Preference for either oral or poster presentation
- Up to 5 keywords
- There are no limits on the number of abstracts an author may submit.
- The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring the co-authors agree with and are aware of the content before submitting the abstract.
- Responsibility for the accuracy of abstract rests with the corresponding author, as does responsibility for checking any patent, IP or copyright issues associated with work included in the Abstract.
- Abstracts will be reviewed by the Program committee, and a decision made as to whether the abstract will be accepted and in what form it will be presented (oral or poster presentation).
- Corresponding authors will receive notification of the result of their abstract submission within 21 days of the date of the submission.
- At least one author of an accepted paper must attend the Conference to present their work. . All speakers will be required to pay for their registration to attend the Conference according the applicable Schedule. Discounted registrations packages are available to authors who are citizens of UN designated “Developing” or “Least-Developed” Nations.
- All accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Handbook.
- Further instructions on Conference oral presentation requirements and a PowerPoint template for use in preparing presentations will be available from the Conference website after the close of Abstract submission in September 2008.
